“While trying to teach our children about life, our children teach us what life is all about” -Anonymous
Delaney brought her sweet little boy in for some ‘mommy and me’ pictures, and we snuck a few in of her too :). I’m so proud of Delaney for making time to have professional portraits done with Austin. She knows exactly what’s important.
Can I get on my soap box just a second?
Mama’s usually get so caught up in the busyness of life, and all too often put themselves last to be in pictures. The most common excuse I hear is ‘I want to lose weight before I have any done’.
Well, mama, we don’t know what life will throw at us, so don’t put it off.
Your children do not see you through their eyes how YOU see yourself.
Your children see you as the person who makes all of their boo-boo’s better. The person who knows just the right tickle spot to make them laugh. The person who makes the best macaroni and cheese, from the box, that was ever made in the history of mankind. Oh, and that extra ‘fluff’ you’re wanting to lose? That ‘fluff’ is engrained in your childs memory of being the most comfortable way to fall asleep. They will remember all of those things.
Not that mama needs to lose 10 lbs. They don’t notice that at all.
Want to know how I know these things? Because these things are what I remember about my mama. I honestly never noticed anything else about her. Now that she’s gone, I constantly dig through old pictures, praying I find some of me with my mom, or even of my mom by herself, that I haven’t seen before. When I find a new one, it’s better than finding gold.
One day, my friend, pictures will be all your family has left of you.
Be in them. Be present. Take hundreds, thousands. Take them for your family, and most importantly if you have kids, take them for your babies.
Off my soap box now 🙂
Austin is a little charmer, and I love that we had a chance to snap some of Delaney by herself.
Delaney, you will love these forever, and Austin will be so thankful he has them too.
